WRIGHTSTOWN - A quick response from firefighters saved a family's home at 575 Fair Street on the far east side of the Village of Wrightstown on Sunday morning, September 6.

A Wrightstown family was in Greenleaf having breakfast at a restaurant around 10:30 a.m. when Greenleaf fire trucks raced past the cafe. The destination turned out to be their home.

The initial call went to the Wrightstown and Greenleaf volunteer fire departments. Because so many firefighters were gone for the holiday weekend, Wrightstown almost immediately called for mutual aid from the Lawrence and Vanden Broek-Kaukauna fire departments.

The fire started in the garage of the home. The initial dispatch said smoke and flames were visible from the street.

Fire crews kept the fire from spreading to the rest of the home.

There was significant damage to the garage, especially in the back, with the roof and eaves heavily damaged.

The D&G Restaurant, where the homeowners were having breakfast when the fire broke out, delivered the family's breakfast to their home later.

CLARIFICATION: The restaurant did not deliver food and beverages to the firefighters. Our earlier report stating that was not accurate.
