Reedsville is one game away from the WIAA state tournament after Thursday night’s 69-49 Division 5 sectional semifinal win over Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah at Menasha.
The win moves No. 1 Reedsville into the sectional final game, where they’ll meet No. 1 Tigerton at Oconto Falls on Saturday at 1 p.m.
This was the third time this season the Panthers beat the Pointers.
In Division 3, No. 3 Xavier beat No. 1 Brillion 69-61 at Oshkosh North. Xavier took an 11-point lead into halftime and never gave it up in the second half.
A Heath Cousin 3-point basket with 11:55 left made the score 44-40 but that was the closest the Lions got.
“I thought their physicality got to us a little bit, maybe took us out of some of our shots, and we missed some shots early on,” Coach Chad Shimek said. “We weren’t who we usually are.”
The Lions close the season with a 24-4 overall record and conference and regional championships.
