REEDSVILLE – The Panthers were loud in the dugout, they scored a lot of runs and their defense did the rest.

In other words, Thursday’s WIAA Division 4 regional championship game looked a lot like most of the Panthers’ wins this season.

Top-seeded Reedsville beat No. 4 Green Lake/Princeton 10-1 to win the program’s first regional title since 2012.

Reedsville’s scoring started immediately. In the bottom of the first inning, Kodie Bubolz batted in the game's first score. Then Jack Schwahn batted in the second run. Gavin Dvorachek batted in two runs to take a 4-0 lead out of the first inning, which the Panthers kept building on.

“We came up short three out of the four years out of my high school. It just feels good to finally get a regional championship, and we’re not done yet,” Dvorachek said. “We’re going to try to (win) at sectionals, and we’re going for state.”

Lucas Lodel pitched most of the game for Reedsville, and the sophomore played excellent. Bubolz, a senior, finished the game, and also did well, working his way out of bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning with consecutive strikeouts.

“I felt pretty confident, and there was a lot of good fielding on the backside of it,” Lodel said.

The game was 10-0 and could have been over with the 10-run rule. Green Lake/Princeton’s only score came in the fifth inning on a flukey play where the runner avoided the Panthers’ defense and reached home plate after a wild pitch.

That run notwithstanding, it was a dominant win for Reedsville.

“The guys were locked in right from the get-go starting with warmups. We’ve talked about that because there’s days and times we struggle with that, but I could tell just from the body language and the fact they were getting down to business, they were ready,” Coach Luke Ubersox said.

Reedsville advances to the sectional semifinal on Tuesday, June 10, to play No. 3 Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah at Oakfield Village Park at 10 a.m. The Panthers beat Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah twice in the regular season.

The sectional final is later in the day in Oakfield at 3:30 p.m. No. 1 Johnson Creek and No. 2 Belmont are on the opposite side of the bracket.
