Posted at 12:10 p.m. on September 23, 2019

TOWN OF LEDGEVIEW – A two-vehicle collision, just after 7:15 a.m. on Monday, September 23, killed a De Pere man who was off-loading a bulldozer from a flatbed semi-trailer.

It happened in front of the Ledgeview Golf Course, on Brown County G (Dickinson Road) near Bowers Creek Road.

Lt. Christopher Knurr, of the Brown County Sheriff’s Department, said the deceased man was struck by a pickup truck driven by a 33-year old Kiel man. He had been identified as James Schott.

He said the pickup was eastbound, headed uphill on G on Scray’s Hill, when it struck the back of a low-boy trailer that was stopped on the side of the road to offload the bulldozer.

Knurr said the pick-up then spun around and flipped. The driver of the pick-up was ejected onto the roadway and the male off-loading the bulldozer, from the De Pere area, was struck during the crash.

The driver of the pick-up was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The man who was off-loading the bulldozer, Eric Anderson of rural De Pere, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash has yet to be determined. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office reconstruction unit was assigned to the investigation. Deputies are actively seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the accident – or who has any other information about the crash. Information may be called in to the sheriff’s department at 920-448-4241 .
