WHS 4N6 takes third at Hortonville

HORTONVILLE – The Wrightstown High School Forensics team continued a busy month of February with its second tournament in six days, this time at the WFCA Hortonville Tournament on February 10.

The team placed third overall, behind Appleton East and Waupaca, with 225 team points.

Wrightstown’s third place finish was in a field of 24 schools, and the team’s individual performer average continues to climb, from 7.95 at its first tournament in January at Oshkosh North to an average of 9.00.  Nine of Wrightstown’s 25 entries advanced to finals on the day.

Finalists for Wrightstown included Alyssa Brugger and Sammie Zuberbier – second place in play acting; Morgan Diedrick, Alesia Meulemans, Breanna Stanley – third place in group interpretation; Stephanie Kiel – third place in oratory; Alesia Meulemans – fourth place in farrago; Lauren Broman – fourth place in oral declamation; Caden Berry – fourth place in solo humorous acting; Amanda Barnes – fourth place in special occasion speaking; Sophia Holterman – fifth place in farrago; Alyssa Brugger – sixth place in solo serious acting.

Alesia Meulemans and Alyssa Brugger are the first Wrightstown performers on the season to advance to finals in multiple categories in the same tournament.

The team continues its February schedule at Kaukauna on Saturday, February 17.
