WIAA sets football brackets

The WIAA announced the 2022 football tournament brackets. All four area schools qualified for this year's playoffs. The opening night of the playoffs is Friday, October 21 with matchups listed below.

Division 4

#4 Wrightstown hosts #5 Xavier

Division 5

#8 Brillion travels to #1 Southern Door

Division 7

#3 Reedsville hosts #6 Catholic Central

#8 Hilbert travels to #1 Cambria-Friesland

Other notes

Brillion (3-6, 3-4) lost to Valders 40-14 to close the regular season on Friday night. A win would have guaranteed a playoff spot. The loss put them on the bubble.

Two Rivers, who defeated Chilton in overtime to win the Eastern Wisconsin Conference championship, is a Division 4 third-seed and will host Kettle Moraine Lutheran.

A total of 224 teams in the state make the playoffs. There are 32 teams in each of the seven division brackets.

The state championship games are November 17 and 18 at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.
