GREEN BAY – Brown County Circuit Court Judge William Atkinson has announced his retirement from the bench, effective August 11.

Gov. Tony Evers announced that he is seeking applicants to fill the vacancy being created by Atkinson’s retirement, The new judge will complete a term ending June 30, 2020.

The application for this position can be found on the “Apply to Serve” page on Gov. Evers’ website at evers.wi.gov. Applications must be received at the governor’s office by 5 p.m. on August 9, 2019.

Atkinson was first elected to the position in 1991 and won re-election since then. Prior to his election to circuit court, Atkinson was Green Bay Municipal Court judge. He was in private practice as an attorney prior to that.
