MANITOWOC – The most potent and deadly of the synthetic opioid drugs has been found in Manitowoc.

On a traffic stop late Tuesday night (November 27), a third shift Manitowoc Police Department patrol officer called for Police Canine “Major” to assist and Major alerted to drugs in the vehicle.

The suspect fled on foot, but was captured by another officer.

Officers located 10.2 grams of heroin, laced with powerful Fentanyl, along with cocaine, marijuana and a schedule II drug in the vehicle.

A digital scale and packaging materials were also found.

The suspect was taken to the Manitowoc County Jail on numerous charges.

Fentanyl is a powerful opioid that is often the source of fatal overdoses. In St. Louis, Mo., it is associated with most opioid overdose deaths. It is increasingly showing up in the streets in rural communities. It is so deadly and acts so quickly that users are often found dead with a needle still in their arm, according to a Missouri coroner.
