Endries Foundation donates $90,000 to BCC

BRILLION – The Robert and Patricia Endries Family Foundation recently donated $90,000 to the Brillion Community Center for the addition of three new family locker room spaces.

The center does not currently have any handicap or private locker rooms, but that will change with the $90,000 covering the complete cost for the three private locker rooms. The addition is big for people with small children or those with disabilities, members of the Parks and Recreation Committee say.

The city had previously set aside more than $500,000 for the center for necessities like roof replacements and repairs and HVAC systems. The $500,000 did not include the private locker rooms, so they wouldn’t have been included without the donation from the Endries. The center also received a $20,000 grant from the state and Keller, who is handling the construction, donated $10,000 back to the center.

The Parks and Recreation Committee had previously discussed putting an elevator in the center. The need for the elevator has decreased with the upcoming move of the workout equipment to the back room of the first floor.

“It made more sense to stick money into [the locker rooms] and to kind of move into where a lot of other YMCAs are already at,” Center Director Ann Marx said.

The committee reached out to center-goers on what they would like to see updated at the center. The equipment on the first floor and new locker rooms were two that were repeatedly suggested.
