Grow hemp legally? Class shows how

TOWN OF LAWRENCE – The University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension and the Michael Fields Agricultural Institute are teaming up to offer a webinar session about industrial hemp.

There are some major changes to the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection’s (DATCP) Industrial Hemp Research Pilot Program. Representatives from DATCP will give an update on the program, followed by sessions focused on grain, fiber, and CBD hemp production.

The program will be held on Thursday, April 18, from 9 a.m. tio 1 p.m., at the Lawrence T own Hall, midway between Wrightstown and De Pere. Use the County S (Freedom Road) exit off I-41, and take the east side I-41 frontage road (called French Road) north 2½ miles to the Lawrence Town Hall, behind the Lawrence Fire Station.  The address is 2400 Shady Court, De Pere.

The program is a live webinar (internet delivered broadcast seminar). Space is limited to 60 people.

9 to 10  a.m., DATCP Rules & Licensing, Melody Walker and Brenda Von Rueden, DATCP

10 to 11 a.m., Grain & fiber hemp production, Bryan Parr, Legacy Hemp

11 a.m. to noon, CBD hemp production, Shelby Ellison, UW Horticulture & Leah Sandler, Michael Fields Agricultural Institute

Noon to 12:20 p.m., UW Research program plans for 2019, Dr. Rodrigo Werle, UW Agronomy

12:10 to 1:00 p.m., Q&A for participants
