HILBERT – The Hilbert Fire Department’s annual 4th of July parade went off without a hitch on Wednesday, despite being interrupted by freight train movements several times.
The sidewalks and curbs were packed when the parade started at 11 a.m., but by noon, people were leaving because of the heat, and heading for refreshments at the Lions Picnic at Civic Park.
The final unit in the parade was a HFD engine with the winning number for the 50/50 raffle.
