Lau defeats Nies in Brillion alderperson race

During Tuesday's spring election, Shelly Lau unseated incumbent Betty Nies with a 278 to 179 vote total. Nies was a long-lasting member of Brillion City Council since the late 1980s.


In another alderperson race, Thomas J Moehr defeated Joel Thorpe 229-210. Moehr has been on Brillion City Council since last year.


Mike Smith received 399 votes with 19 scattering votes in the mayoral race. Smith ran unopposed and will replace the retiring Mel Edinger.


Meanwhile in Reedsville, the referendum designed to upgrade the district's facilities did not pass.
