Midnight wreck ends with driver under arrest

ASKEATON – The Brown County Sheriff’s Department arrested a 31-year old Morrison area woman in connection with a one-vehicle crash early Thursday morning at State 57/32 and County Z in Askeaton.

The crash was reported to the Brown County 911 Center shortly before 12:30 a.m.

Lt. Christopher Knurr said the driver was taken into custody for first-offense drunk driving about an hour after the crash, at her home. After crashing her car, which was found abandoned in the intersection, she apparently fled the scene.

The vehicle was a total loss and the roadway was full of debris from the wreck. Deputies searched the area first, to make sure there was no one injured in a nearby ditch or field.

Several road signs were taken down in the collision. The case is being referred to the district attorney for prosecution.
