Three girls from The Brillion News coverage area were named to all-state honors by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches’ Association.
Named to the Division 3 All-State team were Brillion junior Megan Schuman and Wrightstown senior Leah Lemke.
Named to Division 5 All-State Honorable Mention was Hilbert senior Laney Halbach. Lemke finished her high school career with 1,228 points, and has committed to play for the UW-Oshkosh next season.
Schuman averaged 18.5 points per game this season and has 1,300 points headed into her senior year.
Both Brillion and Wrightstown were knocked out of the WIAA Division 3 playoffs by Freedom, which lost to Waupun in the D3 state title game. Waupun was coached by former Reedsville coach Tim Aalsma. His senior daughter, Abbie Aalsma, was also named an All-State player, finishing her high school career with 2,055 points. Abbie grew up in Brillion.
Halbach scored 1,364 point in her high school career. One area player, Chilton senior Olivia Hoerl, was named to WBCA All-State Honorable Mention, and was also named to the WBCA Academic All-State Team.
