HILBERT – Nathan Wesener, who coached the Hilbert boys’ basketball team the most wins in school history this season, will not be coaching next year. The decision, Wesener said, was made to make his young family his priority. He and his wife Ashley have two small children and are adding twins.

Wesener made the announcement on Sunday evening (March 26) at the school’s winter sports awards program, but he had informed his players of his decision earlier. The Wolves finished the season at 25-2 and, in the Big East  Conference, went 21-1, winning the school’s first conference championship in a dozen years.

The team also won the Big East Conference Tournament. It lost in the WIAA Division 5 Sectional Final to Barneveld, which took the state title in D5.

A complete report on Wesener’s decision and the accolades earned by the 2016-17 Hilbert boys’ basketball team under Wesener will appear in the March 30 print edition of The Brillion News.
