  • Brillion comes from behind to beat Chilton in regional

Feb. 20, 2024 By David Nordby The Brillion News CHILTON - Brillion started the regional basketball playoffs in as exciting of a way as possible on Tuesday night. The Lions, No. 10 in the regional, came back from down double digits late in the game to beat conference rival No. 7 Chilton 50-47. It was one Lions fans and players will remember. With 1:36 remaining in the game, Camden Hale, the program's all-time leading 3-point scorer, made a 3 to pull Brillion within one point. Amaya Brooks scored the go-ahead basket with 1:01 left then made two free throws with 6.9 seconds left to put the Lions up three. Brillion's defense held Chilton scoreless for more than two minutes to close the game and forced multiple turnovers during the comeback. "It starts on defense, bringing that energy to offense," Brooks said. "Everyone knew their role. We never got down on ourselves. We knew we were capable of coming back." Brooks finished with 21 points. Hale finished with 15 points. "We just had the mindset to give it our all and play with high intensity," Hale said.
